07: "Most Promising Woman Entrepreneur"
presentation!
The BPWN Awards committee was honored to
have the opportunity to meet and interview three talented
candidates for our annual “Most Promising Woman
Entrepreneur” award this year. The interview process
consisted of ECU’s Director of the Small Business Institute,
Michael Harris selecting three promising young ladies that
he felt excelled in the classroom, and have much future
potential. He collected their resumes and cover letters, and
sent them to the awards committee—Valerie Fant, Sheila
Pridgen, and Lisa Wagner, who asked each applicant a series
of interview questions, mixed in with general conversation,
and then decided on a winner.
We faced an extremely complicated decision, with all
candidates being very professional, involved in their
community, and wonderful students. Each candidate has very
strong drive and internal motivation that has resulted in
success in several areas of her life. As a whole, they feel
that independence in the workplace, self motivation,
determination, organization, communication, responsibility,
strong ethics, respect, and creativity are the ingredients
that lead to success.
With such elite candidates, choosing this
year’s winner was very difficult, but in the end, one lady
prevailed. This year, we are proud to name Laci Lee Stanley
BPWN’s Most Promising Woman Entrepreneur for 2007. Laci is a
graduating senior at East Carolina University, a member of
various honor’s organizations, recipient of several
scholarships and awards, and President of an association that
she holds dear as this year’s winner.
We would also like to recognize our other very promising
entrepreneurs for 2007. Nicole Frambach, a triple major in
International Business, French, and Finance, who is
self-motivated, and seeks to gain knowledge and experience
from every situation she encounters. Amy Lenfestey, who will
begin medical school at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine in 2008
to embark on the second step of her goal to start her own
medical practice. As you can see, we were faced with three
very talented and determined ladies, all who deserve, and will
see much success and achievement in the future.
